What do you do when life throws you curves and you forget to duck? When things don’t seem…fair. We’ve all been there. We’ve had those days that are plain ole’ poopy and things just aren’t swinging your way. I hate those days. On days like that I can’t wait for my head to hit the pillow and to wake up to a fresh start the next morning. I take a hot shower; massage my favorite Moroccan oil into my hair, slip on my silky soft Aerie sleep shirt, and lather on my Nighttime Tea body lotion. Yes, mmhmm I’m feeling better already! Next thing you know…you’re greeted by the sunshine peeking through your blinds and you say hello to a new day! Continue reading “Good Morning, Love”
Reading is one of my most favorite pastimes. Give me a good book and you won’t hear from me the rest of the day with the exception of some “mmhmm’s” and “ok sounds good’s”. I’m super picky about what books I read to the point where it’s honestly a bit ridiculous. But man, when I discover one I like…whew, it won’t stand a chance. Within a day that book is read cover to cover. Continue reading “Pages of the Past”
Christmas…it’s hard to not love a holiday that encompasses such warmth. It enables opportunities for acts of kindness that may normally be ignored. It’s a season where love transcends distance and barriers. It brings people together and most importantly glorifies our majestic and mighty Savior, Jesus Christ: the King of Kings.
So, I hesitate to write this today, because I know it will most likely offend some of you and there is a good chance many of you will probably disagree with me (which is totally fine). Even though it’s after the fact, I can’t shake this strong tugging on my heart to share with you my thoughts on Halloween. Before I start though, let me preface this with reminding you of how precious you are. If you are someone who enjoys Halloween I don’t think you’re a terrible person or evil or whatever. What I’m about to share, I share with a heart of love and a heart that is desperate to share truth with my friends who may have unknowingly been blinded. Continue reading “Thoughts on Halloween”

I crave that twinkle of excitement for fall and all that it encompasses…college football and tailgate food, pumpkins, apples, hay bales, the kaleidoscope colors of falling leaves and of course, comfort food. Today I’m getting in the fall spirit and sharing some of my favorite recipes for this time of year. So grab your fall decor, a warm drink in a cute mug, and glorious smelling candles and lets get baking! Continue reading “Delight-fall Flavors”
Returning from the gym one evening, my husband and I had planned to wind down slowly. My vision of sipping a post workout smoothie and reading on the back porch took a VERY wrong turn with one whiff of the blender. (Sidebar: My sweet, sweet friends, please remember to take the blades out of the bottom of a blender after using it and clean them…your sense of smell will thank you later!) Choosing water instead, I plopped down in the wicker chair next to my husband’s and flipped open my Bible. I had no agenda. Nothing in particular I wanted. Nothing I was anxious to read. I just wanted to be close to God after a long day. The first verse I read has really stuck with me. It said, “The wise woman builds her house; but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” Proverbs 14:1
